ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

Sahibganj is situated in the bank of Mother Ganga and lap of Rajmahal , holds a very special place due to its glorious past. The historic Rajmahal Hills of the Jurassic era form the southern boundary of this district. These hills are home to one of the rarest tribes of India like Sauria Pahadia, Maisa Pahadia etc.

Bhognadih, the birthplace of immortal freedom fighters Siddho and Kanho, is also located in this district. Its subdivisional headquarter Rajmahal has its own golden history. Its historical connection goes back to Mughal emperor Akbar and Raja Man Singh. Later it remained the capital of undivided Bengal, Bihar and Orissa province for a long time. Sindhi-Dalan, Kanhaiya-Asthan, Akbari Masjid, Barahdwari, Teliagarhi and Fossil Park are some of the historical and tourist places of this district.

Sahibganj is situated on the Jamalpur Howrah Railway Loopline, which is said to be the second oldest railway line in India. Bhagalpur is a famous city of Bihar which is 75 km far. In the west of this district Sahibganj Judgeship was inaugurated on May 1, 1993. Earlier it was a sub-divisional headquarters of Dumka Judgeship.
